A colorful sunrise over the Atlantic, the cool sand under your feet and the sound of gentle waves washing up the beach; it’s another lovely morning at Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge. Stretching for 22 miles along the coast of South Carolina, the refuge is rich in wildlife, history and natural beauty. Now protecting wetlands, waterfowl, turtles and rare red wolves, this area was once a refuge for pirates plundering ships along the Atlantic seaboard.
